Hydraulics Plus Night

HYDRAULICS PLUS BANDOLEROS - LANGILLE TAKES FIRST FEATURE WIN

Braden Langille (Shubenacadie) held off a furious charge from 2011 champion Jarrett Butcher (Porter’s Lake) on Friday night to take his first ever Hydraulics Plus Bandolero main feature victory. Langille, a former Rookie of the Year in the class, took the lead early in his #51 Velocity Machining and Welding Bandolero and held the top spot until the checkered flag on Lap 15. Cole Tanner (Shubenacadie) came home comfortably in third, followed by rookie Craig MacDonald (Waverley) and Adam Meehan (Rawdon).

Langille completed the double down by winning his heat race, sharing the qualifying spotlight with Meehan in the 12 car field. Point leader Cole Boudreau (Chipman, NB) was on his way to the front of the field in the feature before a hard crash on the front straight ended his night on Lap Two. Boudreau was okay, but his #00 State Farm Insurance Bandolero sustained heavy damage in the wreck. The Hydraulics Plus Bandoleros are back in action Friday as a part of ACE Lumbermart Night.

STRICTLY HYDRAULICS LEGENDS - BLENKHORN BACK IN VICTORY LANE

Back behind the wheel of his familiar #67 Champion’s Bar and Grill Legend, 2011 track champion Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro) captured the coveted double down in the Strictly Hydraulics Legend class on Friday night. Blenkhorn, who drove his father’s #13 car a week prior, finished ahead of the battle for second which saw Richard Salter (Center Burlington) take the spot over point leader Cole Butcher (Porter’s Lake). Paul Blenkhorn (Truro) returned to the seat of the #13 with a fourth place finish while Falmouth’s Matt Moore brought the #1 car home in fifth in his second start of 2012.

Moore and Dylan Blenkhorn took wins in the 10 lap qualifiers. The Strictly Hydraulics Legends are off next week but will return to the track on July 27th as the undercard to the 18th Annual Shriner’s Classic for Sportsman.

DARTMOUTH DODGE SPORTSMAN - WALLAGE WINS FIRST OF 2012

After knocking on the door to victory lane in recent weeks, Darren Wallage’s call was finally answered. The Oakfield driver of the #3 The Cat Shack Chevrolet recorded his first victory of the season at Scotia Speedworld after holding off point leader Aaron Boutilier (Porter’s Lake) to take the win. Brently Pirri (Three Fathom Harbour) crossed the line in third but was found to be too light in tech, relegating him to last in the running order. The disqualification promoted veteran Larry Fisher of Porter’s Lake to third with Beaverbank drivers Wade Slauenwhite and Phil Barkhouse Jr. rounding out the top five.

Three Dartmouth Dodge heat races set the tone for the feature with Brian Jollimore (Halifax), Harry Ross White (Noel Road) and a returning Kirk Ryan (Lantz). The Dartmouth Dodge Sportsman Series is off next week prior to the 18th Annual Shriner’s Classic for Sportsman on July 27th.

ACE LUMBERMART LIGHTNING - SMITH BACK TO VICTORY LANE

Jorden Smith (Lakeside) is continuing to set the pace in the ACE Lumbermart Lightning division with his fourth win of the season on Friday night. Smith, who leads in the points in the class he won the title in last year at the wheel of his #144 Rent A Centre Dodge Neon, took the win over Richie Moore (Elmsdale) after Moore won the two features leading into Hydraulics Plus Night. JR Lawson (Shubenacadie) came home in third after motor problems have plagued the #181 Atlantic Dodge Neon for most of the 2012 season. Completing the top five were BJ
Nicholson (Beaverbank) and second place point driver Mike Brown (Urbania).

Heat races kicked off the evening for the ACE Lumbermart Lightning cars, which were won by Lawson and “The Pit Lizard” Jamie Creamer (Halifax). The action heats up this week as the ACE Lumbermart Lightning cars go 50 laps as a part of Twin 50’s Night.

ACE LUMBERMART THUNDER - MACMILLAN BECOMES FIRST REPEAT WINNER OF ‘12

Kyle MacMillan (Hammonds Plains) extended his point lead on Friday night by capturing the ACE Lumbermart Thunder car 25-lap main feature. The driver of the #5 Scotia Tire Wyse Road Civic became the first driver to win multiple features on the season in defeating last week’s main feature victor Andrew Cluett (Kennetcook). ’11 Wooden Door Bistro Rookie of the Year Kirk Mullane (Hammonds Plains) scored his first ever podium finish in a Thunder car with a third place run, edging out Ross Harvie (Kennetcook) for the spot. Dwayne Flemming (Truro) completed the top five in the highly competitive feature event.

The Hammonds Plains brothers kicked off the evening with heat wins as, for the first time in their careers, MacMillan and Mullane each scored qualifying race wins on the same evening. “The BEST Four Cylinder Drivers in Atlantic Canada” go double the distance next week as they go for 50-laps on ACE Lumbermart Night.
