September 1st: Kiddie Rides Night

Hydraulics Plus Beginner Bandolero
Brooke Dowe (Bedford) is hitting her stride as she collected her third feature win on the year Friday night during Kiddie Night. Dowe, who was edged out in the qualifier by Dylan MacMillan (Glenholme) had to hold off the field in the feature on a final restart with three laps remaining.
Tanton Wooldridge (Summerside, PE), who loves racing at Scotia Speedworld, scored his first podium finish at the track with a second place finish while leading Tim Hortons at the Airport Rookie Dawson Noble (Upper Nine Mile River) joined Dowe and Wooldridge on the podium after 15-laps. MacMillan was fourth in the feature, followed by Ayden Christensen (Fall River).

Dowe will enter Finale Friday with a 26 point lead on MacMillan.

Hydraulics Plus Bandoleros
Josh Langille (Coldbrook) was clutch on Friday night, scoring a feature win at a pivotal time to slightly pad a small point lead with one race to go. Langille completed his drive to the front after a Lap Three caution for Owen Mahar (Hubley) losing a wheel on the back straight and held on for his fourth overall win of the year but first since July 7th.

Langille battled early with Sam Rogers (Lower Onslow) but the defending track champion would have to settle ahead of Austin MacDonald (Pictou), who completed the podium. Outlaw drivers Danny Chisholm (Canning) and Tanner MacLean (Scotsburn) rounded out the top five overall in the 15-lap event. For MacLean, it was his best finish overall of the 2017 season.

Nathan Langille (Coldbrook) was sixth overall and the first Bandit across the line. Colton Noble (Upper Nine Mile River) and Nathan Singer (Kennetcook) shadowed Langille to the line.
Nathan Langille and MacDonald picked up Bandit and Outlaw heat wins, respectively.

The Langille brothers lead their Bandolero divisions with only one race to go on Finale Friday. Josh Langille leads MacDonald by four points and Rogers by six in the Outlaw division.
Nathan’s lead is more comfortable, with the gap back to Mahar and Noble, who are tied for second, being 19 points.

Strictly Hydraulics Legends
Shelby Baker (Fall River) returned to mid-August form on Friday and collected his second feature win at Scotia Speedworld on the 2017 season in the Strictly Hydraulics Legends division. Baker started fourth and took the lead on Lap Five, a lead he would not relinquish over the next 20 laps en route to the win.

The battle for second was a typical battle amongst some of the best Legend drivers in the region, with Braden Langille (Shubenacadie) picking up second over Danny Harvey (Lantz). Waylon Farrell (Conception Bay South, NL) followed up his win the week prior with a fourth place run, ahead of Jeff Cruickshank (Hantsport), who recovered from a heartbreaking result last Friday to finish fifth.

Baker and Andrew Lively (Middle Sackville) picked up heat victories. For Lively, the leading Tim Hortons at the Airport Rookie in the class, it was his first heat race victory in a Legend car at Scotia Speedworld on the CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series.

Paul Goulden (Shelbune) saw his point lead cut to two points following his 11th place finish on Friday evening. Adam Meehan (Rawdon Gold Mines), who was sixth on the evening, and Harvey, find themselves tied for second in the standings with just two races to go.

Affordable Fuels Sportsman
Aaron Boutiler (Porter’s Lake) started on the outside pole of the 38-lap Affordable Fuels Sportsman feature and would jump out to the lead by the end of the first lap. Boutilier and the “Big Red Ford” led wire to wire, building big leads before cautions shrunk the advantages. The last restart with six laps to go was no problem, as Boutilier pulled away for his second win of the season.

Richard Salter (Centre Burlington) has showed speed all season but did not have a finish indicative of the quick nature of his No. 10 KD Rogers Well Drilling Chevrolet. Salter was finally able to lock down a podium run by taking second place on Friday, ahead of leading Tim Hortons at the Airport Rookie Matt Vaughan (Fletchers Lake). Travis Roma (West Chezzetcook) brought his car home fourth, followed by Wayne Miller (Kennetcook), who took his first top five run of the season.

Heat wins in the 16-car field went to Boutilier and Roma.

With Jordan Veinotte’s sixth place finish in the feature, the Porters Lake driver now has a two point lead over Vaughan. Roma remains very much a factor in the championship chase with two races to go, sitting 15 points out of the lead.

TOURSEC LIGHTNING
“Rational” Richard Drake (Halifax) was able to get the breaks he needed to beat his fellow championship leaders to the front of the field, ultimately being awarded with his fourth win in five weeks in the Toursec Lightning class.

Drake made the winning move on leading Tim Hortons at the Airport Rookie Travis Keefe (Clayton Park) on Lap 11 and was able to pull away in a feature than saw only one yellow flag on Lap Three. Keefe held on to second over Tom Stewart (Stewiacke). The pair is battling for third in the standings heading down to the finish of the season. Point leader Scott Thibodeau (Williamswood) brought home fourth with “Mr. Lightning on the Hill” Steve Matthews (Bedford) locking down fifth place in the 13-car field.

Heat wins went to Jamie Dillman (Carrolls Corner) and a returning Jorden Smith (Lakeside).
Thibodeau’s point lead has been cut to six points with just two races to go as Drake continues to hold the hot hand in the class.

TOURSEC THUNDER
It did not take long for Merle Corbin (Sackville) to shake the rust off in the Toursec Thunder division.

Corbin, who has been working out west this year and was home to make his first start of the season Friday night, won his heat race and started up front in the 25-lap Thunder feature. With the field bearing down on him at the end of a caution free feature and his car periodically popping out of gear, Corbin was able to hold on for his first win of the year in his first, and possibly due to work, only start of the year.

Chris Hatcher (Beaver Bank), who dominated the Toursec 50 the week prior, held a pretty wheel on the low line but ran out of time to pass Corbin and had to settle for second. Megan Parrott (Beaver Bank), in only her second Front Wheel Drive start, finished third. The top eight finished in close proximity, with Tim Hortons at the Airport Rookie Darren Flemming (Belnan), point leader Dave Matthews (Kennetcook), Neil Miousse (Kentville), Jesse Deveau (Greenwood) and Drew MacEachern (Dartmouth) finishing within lengths of the podium.
Corbin and Hatcher both won heat races.

Hatcher moves to second in the standings but still finds himself 23 points back with just two races remaining.
