Heat 1: 12 11 16 15 43 38 88

After winning the opening two features of the year, Shelby Chisholm (Antigonish) returned to the front of the field in the sixth race of the season for the Bluenose Pools Beginner Bandoleros.

While podium positions were seemingly a revolving door of talent moving in and out, Chisholm remained the one constant up front. Addison Veinotte (Porters Lake) and Jake Campbell (Sydney) would challenge Chisholm for the top spot throughout, but it would be the No. 12 showing the way wire-to-wire in the 12-lap feature.

The race would ultimately be decided with the time flag being displayed with two to go. On the final restart, Chisholm lined up alongside Adlee Lively (Middle Sackville) with Veinotte and Sarah Vandenburg (Lower Onslow) on row two. Chisholm got the advantage on the restart as the trio behind slipped and slid for the runner-up spot. Lively would come home in second with Campbell racing past a sideways Veinotte for third.

Chisholm swept the night with the heat win.

Bluenose Pools Bandolero

Heat 1: 13 85 27 5 92 19 99 2 47

The first repeat feature winner in the Bluenose Pools Bandolero division ended up doing it back to back – but it was not easy.

After a stumble late from Avery DeCoste (Antigonish), it was Bella Pashkoski (Beaver Bank) who capitalized en route to her second career feature win and second in as many weeks at Scotia Speedworld. DeCoste slowed out of Turn Four with two laps to go after having over a half straightaway lead.
By the time the No. 13 got going again, he was behind Pashkoski and being pressured by Landon Pierce (Bridgewater) for second.

Behind the podium finishers, a spin for fourth by Hailey Bland (Lakeview) off the bumper of Ethan Hicken (New Glasgow) would relegate both to the back of the scoring order just feet shy of the finish. Bristol Matthews (Nine Mile River) and Emma MacMillan (Maitland) would be promoted into the top five after the 15-lap feature go.

DeCoste took home the heat win and now trails Pashkoski by 13 points after five races in the championship standings.

Toursec Mini Stock

The story on track at the front of the Toursec Mini Stock field was quite different than off track after post race technical inspection.

When it looked like Chris Drover (Lower Sackville) was going to win his second of the season, it ended up being Ross Moore (Lake Egmont) being credited as the first two time winner in the division for 2024.

Moore started 11th in the 24 car field and wasted little time getting towards the front of the field. Kenny Hopper would lead the opening five laps before Tyler Hallahan (Elmsdale) took command ahead of Peter Brown (Antrim) and Drover. A pair of cautions around the halfway point would set up a twelve lap run to the finish of the race with Drover and Hallahan pacing the field until three laps to go. The move that would in the end be for the win following post race technical inspection was Moore making an inside move on Travis Keefe (Chester) with three laps remaining as the pair battled Hallahan for the runner-up spot.

Moore would drive by Hallahan for second on track. Once post race technical inspection settled, the 48 and 33 would be deemed as failing post race inspection for different infractions. It gave Moore his second win of the year with Tim Wright (Middle Stewiacke) and Steve Matthews (Bedford) getting by Keefe at the end of the race for the podium positions. Keefe was fourth with rookie Brown in fifth.

Brandon MacDonald, Blake MacDonald and Chris McMullin captured heat wins.

Moore takes a 30 point lead over Keefe into Kiddie Night.

In a feature event that finished under the time limit due to numerous cautions and red flags in its 16 lap duration, it was two drivers who are accustomed to time shortened events down south.

Chase MacKay (Bear Cove) captured his first win of the year in Halifax. MacKay started fourth and took the lead from Devin Wadden (Hammonds Plains) on Lap Six. Seven incidents that caused yellow and red flags, anchored by a restart wreck that damaged more than a dozen cars on Lap Eight, would force officials to display the time limit flag at the completion of the eighth lap. The final caution would come out on Lap 16 for a single car spin by Colton Noble (Upper Nine Mile River), putting an end to the race.

Up front, both MacKay and point leader Ayden Christensen (Windsor Junction) knew they had to go in case the yellow came out. Christensen put pressure on MacKay, but it was not enough to get by for the win. Behind them, as the caution was getting ready to fly, Chase Livingston (Springhill) battled with Wadden for third. Josh Langille (Coldbrook) made it a three horse race, even making it three wide for a brief moment on Lap 13. Livingston was able to hold off both Wadden and Langille for the final podium position in the 23-car field.

Christensen extends his point lead to 35 over Caden Tufts (Timberlea) after six events.

Maritime Auto Glass Sportsman

The streak continues as Russell Smith Sr (Lakeside) makes it five straight on the Maritime Auto Glass Sportsman division for the Smith family.

Smith Sr. started eighth in the 15-car field and was working for third on Alex Johnson (Enfield) before the first caution flew on Lap 18 for an incident between Scott O’Neill (Oakfield) and Brentley Pirri (Three Fathom Harbour). That caution just prior to halfway was the only yellow flag on the evening. Smith Sr. would take the lead from Andrew Lively (Middle Sackville) on Lap 20 and not look back over the second half of the event to capture his third win of 2024.

As Smith Sr. pulled away with the win, the battle would rage on for second for multiple laps between Lively, Johnson and Darren Hilchie (Lake Charlotte). Johnson would lead into Lively with ten laps to go, enough for both Johnson and Hilchie to get by and ultimately finish second and third. Lively would hold on to fourth place with fifth belonging to Kyle Bent (Berwick).

Michael Cormier (Grand Barachois, NB) and Hilchie took home heat race victories.

Smith Sr would take the point lead by ten over Dylan Dowe (Bedford, NS) after five races in the 2024 season.
