Heat 1: 29 4 16 88 15 12 11 38 43

It was worth the wait for Brandon McGrath (Antigonish) as he scored the first victory of his career on Friday the 13th at Scotia Speedworld.

McGrath won the heat race from the front, started pole in the feature and led every single one of the 12-laps en route to a picture perfect night at the Speedworld. McGrath, who had five podium feature finishes prior to Friday night without a win, finished ahead of Addison Veinotte (Porters Lake) and Shelby Chisholm (Antigonish), who fought from the back after a last lap caution in the heat race. Rookie Ben Turple was fourth for his best finish of the season with Adlee Lively (Middle Sackville) in fifth.

Chisholm’s point lead is now six points with just two races to go on the season.

Hailey Bland (Lakeview) grabbed her second feature win of the 2024 season on Friday night.

Bland started sixth in the seven car field and after a pair of cautions, the No. 27 was in second on a Lap Four restart to four time feature winner Avery DeCoste (Antigonish). DeCoste would have issues on the next lap, handing the lead over to Bland – one she would not relinquish. She battled Bristol Matthews (Nine Mile River) early on the restart but was soon uncontested as she extended her lead to the finish of the 15-lap feature.

Bella Pashkoski (Beaver Bank) came home in second place and, with the issues for DeCoste and a heat race win for the No. 85, extended her lead to 20 points with just three feature events to go. Matthews scored her first podium of the season with a third place finish. Emma MacMillan (Maitland) and Irelyn Rose (Halifax) completed the top five.

The Bluenose Pools Bandoleros will race twice on Finale Friday to make up their September 6th feature.

Two feature races for “the BEST Four Cylinder Drivers in Atlantic Canada” resulted in two different feature winners – though both were familiar faces to The Tire Man Victory Lane.

Matthews would cross the line first in the second feature of the evening but, like in the first feature, fail post race technical inspection, handing the win to Keefe. The pass for the win, which was second at the time, was made on Lap 18 as Keefe passed Pickles for the position. Moore followed through on the exchange and would battle Drover on a late race restart for the runner-up spot. Mitchell Hopkins (Beaver Bank) ran in the top five for most of the second feature and wound up fourth at the finish with his teammate Hodder fifth.

Hopkins, Pickles and Blake MacDonald captured heat race victories. For MacDonald, it was his first of the year.

In the night cap, it was Colton Noble (Upper Nine Mile River) returning to the Legend division and taking home his first win of the year – but he had to beat his younger brother Dawson (Upper Nine Mile River) to do it!

The Noble Boys Racing team, including Nate Singer (Kennetcook) appeared to have the podium spots locked up in a fast paced 25-lap feature. Dawson appeared poised to pick up the win but after getting loose in Turn One, it allowed Colton to get by with five laps to go. Dawson held on for second while Christensen got passed Singer with two to go to take third. Livingston also got by for fourth with Singer fifth.

Heat wins went to MacKay, Dawson Noble and Samantha MacDonald (Dartmouth).

It was a long draught ended for Andrew Lively on Friday.

The Middle Sackville driver has been racing in the Late Model Sportsman division for the past four full seasons and while he has come close to victory, he has yet to do so.
That was, until Friday.

Lively made a pass following a restart on Sheldon Pemberton (Dartmouth) to pick up his first career Late Model Sportsman win. The former Legend champion never looked back after that Lap 19 restart and held it over the final 21 caution free laps for the win. Pemberton finished second but had his hands full with Darren Hilchie (Lake Charlotte) at the finish. Dylan Dowe (Bedford) challenged for the podium but came up in fourth with Alex Johnson (Enfield) a distant fifth at the finish.

Chad Sinton (Truro) picked up his first career Sportsman heat win on Friday while Lively picked up the checkered flag in the second.
